The Indian Penal Code 1860 (45 of 1860) is hereby repealed. Notwithstanding such repeal anything done or any action taken under the Indian Penal Code 1860 shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of this Sanhita.

All pending cases under IPC as on 1 July 2024 continue to be governed by IPC. New cases filed after 1 July 2024 are governed by BNS.
